I work in a research greenhouse where our company wide database is run and maintained by guys on the east coast (headquarters). At our specific location we use this company wide databse for projects, but we also use Access and sometimes FileMakerPro for in-house experiments and projects.

I have picked up all my database knowlege on the job the last 2 years, and for better or worse, I am the go to guy here (even though my knowledge is minimal for most of it)

Anyway I bought an SQL startup guide, do you think learning the basics would benefit me? Will I see more ways to make our databases unique and customized?

Thanks!
