I have recently upgraded from 05 to 08 and have been restoring and re-indexing my databases. To my surprise, I have found that it often takes longer for indexing scripts to run than it did before - despite the fact that the computer I am using has been upgraded and is considerably more powerful than previously.I have been digging around in web resources (esp Microsoft articles) but am struggling to find rational explanations for this. It occurs to me that SQL Server 2008 might be using a higher sampling rate to build its initial histograms than was the case with SQL Server 2005. Can anyone give me some information about this? Thanks.Chris |
