Ya but you can get most forums for free. I have one for an SPI application I developed which has the missing pieces I talk about:

-Takes me right to new posts
-Mail that comes back to me actually has the subject line rather than just "reply to a posting"
-Faster searches
-Ability to use image tags
-Attachments

etc...

Sure attachments might be a little too much if some volunteer is hosting this..but having a faster search, better mail subjects, and taking me right to a new post when I open a thread would be helpful.

It certainly struck me in the wrong way as I'm sure it did others. If you have site recommendations, use the Site forum and offer up some recommendations. Don't bash a site and say I've done it better.

O no no no bashing ... I didn't say I've done one I meant the application I use..uses a forum to help users communicate.
It was free and uses SQL Server. It also supported all of those things that I have mentioned Tara. No one is bashing the SQLTeam site...I'm just critiquing and making recommendations. Would make browsing and using the forums a tad bit easier in my opinion.

You can use image tags now, but attachments ain't gonna happen. There really isn't a need for SQLTeam to host files for anyone.

As for searching for a members posts, you can do that. I told you how last week when you posted it somewhere.

The forums (and the rest of the site) will get an overhaul one day. The problem is, the forum member database powers most of the site membership, so switching forums would be a big job. When we do it, we will change a lot of things.

But at the moment, everyone involved are just too damn busy. In the last three weeks, I have pulled probably 6 allnighters, including one 36 hour shift in front of the pc.

If you want to swap for a while, I'll post more and look at new forums, and you can work on one of my jobs
