I've just discovered Wiki's and can't decide whether they are just a realisation of Chaos Theory. (http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=WikiGuide)

Does anyone make use of them?

So what are the benefits? What sorts of scenarios might they be used in?

well it was used for doing question pages... like online inside quiz thing...
everyone could edit the page change everything including the questions
that way a lot of people learned how to use html and basic asp...
in the end it kind of boosted everyones knowledge.

I looked at it for internal intranet knowledgebase. Decided we were better with a strucured application instead. I think it would be fine if everyone got "into" it, but the syntax is weird (things like 6, or maybe 8, consecutive apostrophes to stop words becoming WikkiWords - or should that be W''''''''ikkiWords and as we are an HTML shop a content management system that lets us change anything, but also to use HTML formatting, struct us as leveraging our skills better [don't yer lurve that phrase!] and allowing precise formatting when needed.

We added Snitz Forum for the rest ...

I think that given my current level of users it's a recipe for disaster. I doubt the network guys could handle it never mind joe bloggs. Interesting idea though

have a look at a CMS system perhaps?

There's a comparison site at http://www.cmsmatrix.org/ - it looks a bit user-hostile at first, but there's lots on info in there once you "ken" the format they use.

Thanks Kristen, that looks really useful. I had considered Contribute but my networking friends won't allow it. At least this gives me some more options.
