Hi All,

I am executing a DTS package through a stored procedure which is inserting a thousands of records into my SQL SERVER 2000 Database.
When I run my stored procedure through the SQL Query Analyser, it works fine, but when I call the stored procedure through a .NET Application, its giving me the following error.

"Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

I am using VS.NET Studio 2003,SQL SERVER 2000.The DTS package and Database are in the same server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Raj.

Modify the timeout setting to a larger value. The default is 30 seconds.

thanks tara. It works fine if I change the executionTimeout for the httpruntime element in the machine config. Unfortunately I cant change the machine config on the server for some other reasons. So I tried to change it on the web config file. But I still get the error. Is there any other place I can make the changes? Would calling this huge database operation asynchronously work??

thanks.

Are you creating a Sqlcommand object to execute the procedure? If so set the command object.commandtimeout to 0. This will execute the procedure until it is done. Or set it to a max time(its in secs) that suits the business needs.
