I have seriously sat here and wondered sometimes about my IT boss.He is WAY too cool to be a manager...Today I asked him if it was ok during lunch if I helped someone with their HOME PC that they had brought into work (due to spam, etc)...His answer was:"Absolutely not, that would mean we could not kill you on counter strike. Try to get it finished before lunch!" Keeping the web experience alive -- http://www.web-impulse.comImperfection living for perfection -- http://jhermiz.blogspot.com/ |

yes it's possible. we play counter strike every day or two here.after lunch the whole team (5 people) take half an hour an play. we play office vs. office.there's nothing better than a headshot with a magnum sniper from accros the map. productivity is 5 fold afterwards, because ppl are relaxed.Go with the flow & have fun! Else fight the flow |

haha cool, us too we play for 1 hour though during lunch. I tried to get them to buy call of duty, but some of the machines are kinda not up to spec. Counter strike runs great, we've downloaded 100's of maps. Our favorite map is CS_ASSAULT... hahahah key is to not let them hear you running around, you run around in the open or usually snipe ? I usually run around and find em snipers, sniping is a little bit boring and slow. I like the fast rounds so if everyone is just sitting around we get no where. depends on the map. i like sniping. it gives me a rush to me the adrenalin is waiting and giving a headshot while the person is running away i guess it's 60_40 in the favor of sniping.Go with the flow & have fun! Else fight the flow |

Serious ? I would never want to work for a company that was as strict as that. Everyone needs a little bit of enjoyment sometime. If all you can do is sit there and code all day long than that has got to suck!!! agree with you 100% jon. a workplace has to be relaxed. productivity is much better.that's simple human psychology. ok if there's real work to be done fast then of course that takes priority.as i said we all play it here. including the boss. Go with the flow & have fun! Else fight the flow |

definately, there are times when stuff hits the fan and you have to work hard on a specific urgent request. But as spirit1 said its just basic psychology that people need other things to do than to sit around all day working and coding. We have 2 breaks one at 930 am, one at 330pm as well, and finally a lunch from 12-1pm. We play CS or at least do other things during these times. Hell we've contemplated going to the park during lunch time as well, if only the weather were a lot better here.
