Merkin, that's too wicked even for me!

Apparently there has been a decree from the Mighty Bill himself that it will be released in 2005 (though I didn't dare ask where - I was thinking Mars)

They showed the latest CTP release which probably has very little that you don't know about already except it looks like the marketing guys are getting in on the act (surely a sign that release is actually getting near) as everything is now called -

SQL Server <add your own service> Services or SS?S for short. #

My question is this, Have Microsoft now created TLA bloat? Are we entering a brave new world of the FLA?

"Are we entering a brave new world of the FLA?"

Of course - it has inbuilt allowance for future expansion ...

Merkin, if it's like Gordon Mangione's comments on Reporting Services in 2003, it would be around December 60th of 2005.

Not much of interest, though the more I hear about it the scarier I find CLR (am I supposed to say that to you guys?)

They didn't mention why they ditched the DATE and TIME datatypes?

What, you mean its still just DATETIME?

I thought separate DATE datatype was a great idea. Shame.

Basically they FUBAR'd the date, time, and UTCdatetime types, they were based on CLR types and had significant compatibility issues with regular datetime and smalldatetime.

Typing of which : I remember someone telling me they thought "TLA" meant "Those Little Abbreviations" - which I think would have FUBAR covered!
