Well, when you go out and say your product is 100% hack-proof, you know you're just inviting hackers to prove otherwise...

CNET is reporting at:
http://news.com.com/2100-1001-831142.html?legacy=cnet&tag=pt.rss..feed.ne_8728263
that a security researcher has found multiple vulnerabilities in Oracle 9i, including one that will let an attacker take full control of the server.

The quote that really gets me, is when Mary Ann Davidson says "... in the end... it's not about not having software flaws--it's about a company's commitment to do away with those flaws that matters." Wasn't Oracle the same company that blasted Microsoft for making users install all kinds of security hotfixes?

Yeah, this just killed me. Oracle hasn't gotten nearly enough of a black eye on this.

Here's a thread (lengthy) about how one company burned through $30M in VC funding thanks to the wisdom of some pinheads who had the wise idea of converting a perfectly good SQL Server back-ended web-based system to Oracle...

To be fair, the switch to Oracle wasn't what burned through the VC cash. I think the things that burned up the cash were the $500K bottles of wine and $300K for trade shows where they forgot to, I don't know, attract customers? The switch was just one of many stupid decisions that killed the company. It would have been just as much of a mess if they switch from a working Oracle System to SQL Server.
