Following post in another thread I am thinking about a script to check that a database is set up "in preferred manner"

Is compatibility mode 100?

Is page-protection set to CHECKSUM

Are latest Service Packs in place

...

Before I spend hours writing one is there one lying around somewhere?

Thanks.

May want to look at this Kristen http://blogs.technet.com/andrew/archive/2008/03/30/sql-server-2008-best-practice.aspx and maybe this one will be useful too http://blogs.technet.com/andrew/archive/2008/03/30/sql-server-2008-best-practice.aspx

by the way...99% of what you already know is going to directly apply to SQL 2008 as far as best practices. The real difference is in how you enforce them.

Thanks Russell. So there was a Best Practice Analyzer in SQL 2005 ... now replaced with a set of Policies ... not sure that is a forward step for generic reporting, but its food for thought, thanks.
