To All, I'm going to ask you to humor me - I'm a QA analyst asked to test a SQL Server application. I'm not a DBA but know enough to be dangerous. Can people share some of the common installation issues they've had with SQL 2005, express specifically? I've googled, read and tested and I thought we were good. Until a user installed with password complexity turned on. Drat. Until I knew about it I wouldn't have thought to test it. Anyone have a list (written or otherwise) of reasons SQL Server would fail to install? Mike |

What do you mean by "failed to install"? Do you mean that the installation itself fails or you can't start up the services after an install or something? The reason I'm asking is because I don't think I've ever had a problem installing sql server ever, except for a few times when I tried installing on an unsupported OS (standard version in win xp for example). Failure to start up services and failure to connect to the instance however is a different issue...- LumbagoIf the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts. Albert Einstein |
