Hi Experts,
i'm using sql server 2005 sp2 stndard edition. i've internet connection also to the system. i'd like to setup alerts for replication, and for other maintenance jobs. i heard that SMTP is needed for this. not sure what is the software needed for this, and setup instructions also. i'm trying to do this on my personal computer. kindly guide me in this regard

You can use Database Mail to send emails via jobs. Or you can setup alerts directly in the Agent.
