SQL Install Error

Hello,

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 X64 on Windows 2008 X64 SP2, when I get to SqlPowerShellConfigAction_install_postmsi_engine_CPU64 I get the following error thrown

Unable to get install types in C:\Program Files (X86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.PSProvider.dll assembly

I have checked, PowerShell 1.0 is installed and I have removed and re-installed this and I have tried with PowerShell 2.0 installed but this error still remains.

It doesn't stop me from continue the install it does however prevent me from installing SP1 as the install has not completed in a successfull fashion.

Can anybody shed any light on this I have search and found no helpfull solution to resolve the matter.

Installation errors are very hard to troubleshoot. Do you have a support contract with Microsoft so that you can call PSS for help? I've probably opened 5 different cases with Microsoft just this year regarding installation errors on Windows 2008.

have you installed the pre-requisites?
