i have a app done in vb i need my data is be encryption so that i can only read the data... is there a way of doing it... i have image , nvarchar,int,bit ... datatypes in my tables..a tip can do the rest======================================Ask to your self before u ask someone |

You have the wrong impression of the word Encryption. All SQL Server encryption is one way - PERIOD. Once encrypted, you can never go back - unless you figure it out.HOWEVER, if you set all of the tables to be SELECT to sa only (assuming that you are sa), then nobody can get to your data - except you. Sorry - but encryption is out of the question as far as encrypting something and then unencrypting it. No chance!!!JJS |

Yes but he didn't specifally ask about SQL Server encryption. If you read the linked thread, there are ways of doing it.Damian |
