Upgrading from SQL Server 7 to SQL Server 2008 requires an interim upgrade to SQL 2000 or SQL 2005. My client's old server is running SQL 7 and their new box has SQL 2008. How can I do this upgrade without having to buy either SQL 2000 or 2005?The database is at least 9 gb, and therefore cannot be attached to MSDE 2000 or SQL 2005 Express. |

You can use the Developer Edition for 2000 or 2005, they're only $49 I think. A trial version might work too. If you have an MSDN license you can download 2005 for this purpose. |

You can use the evaluation edition of SQL 2005. You're not going to need it for the 180 days.--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |
