I'm setting up sql 2008 on a new windows 2008 server.
I have named pipes enabled and I still keep getting the following error:
what do I need to change?

A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL serer. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the intance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.

Make sure under server network configuration you have enables named pipes and tcp/ip protocols.

and use fully qualified name of server and databse eg.

servername or ip\databasename in servername field for connection.

Thanks & Regards
