Do I need SQL 2008 Enterprise license in order to configure our SharePoint cluster as Active/Active?

Your question is a little confusing. You need a license to run SQL Server. To use active/active, you need 2+ licenses. If you are using CPU licenses, then you only need to cover the physical sockets of each node. If you are using server licenses, then you'll need to license each instance plus CALs.

Sorry for the confusion. Someone told me that I have to have SQL Enterprise edition in order to do an Active/Active configuration. I researched this issue and could not find a definite answer and I was hoping that someone might help answer.

Enterprise is not required.
