sp_help_job i don't see it in the stored procedures menu...i also don't have credentials for sql server agent any way around it

It's in msdb.
If you can't see the agent it probably means you're not meant to see the jobs either,

you should assign these Role to the user to check these jobs statuses

SQLAgentOperatorRole
SQLAgentReaderRole
SQLAgentUserRole
