 unable to remote into server @ home from work

Hello everyone.

I am trying to remote to my sql server at home from work using IP address.

I have enabled TCP IP. and have enabled the IP1,2,3,4 addresses in the properties window. I have disabled my firewall temporarily. But when i try to remote in signing in using the sa login.

i recieve the following message.

TITLE: Connect to Server

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)




what else have i left out.???

Do a telnet test from your work to your home computer: telnet IpAddressOfHomeComputer ListeningPortNumber

You would run it from a command prompt. Start..Run..type in cmd and hit enter. You should be able to type in the telnet command from there.
