SQL Team is 3 years old today! (well, actually, it's just the ASK SQL Team member account) |

The site went live somwhere around 6/24/2000. Actually a few days earlier. We really didn't get much traffic until Scott at www.4GuysFromRolla.com posted a link to an article we'd written. After that things just kind of took off. In August of 2000 I hacked together some home-grown forums and ran those for about a month. The weekend of September 24, 2000 I rolled out these Snitz forums and the AskSQLTeam account was migrated to these forums. The code to populate the AskSQLTeam is outside of Snitz and I never bothered to update the post count. There have been over 13,000 AskSQLTeam questions submitted to the site so far.===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |

And only about 5 replies from the original posters. I actually wish that more people would sign up and then ask a question instead of using AskSQLTeam. You just never know if the original poster comes back to SQLTeam to read the replies. I also wish that when you start a thread that it would subscribe you to it by default. I wish, I wish, I wish.Tara |

>> I also wish that when you start a thread that it would subscribe you to it by default.I don't - I've had to divert emails from forums that do that into junk mail because I get overwhelmed by them. The active topics on this site works wellish if you come back frequently.I wish there was an option to set the display time because logging out and in doesn't seem to do it.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

In the "New Topic" page there's a checkbox that says "Subscribe to this thread" that you can check to be automatically subscribed. Is that what you're looking for?===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |

Yes, I know that you can do that.My comment was derived from the fact that AskSQLTeam people rarely reply to their threads, so you don't know if they ever saw the answers. So I was thinking that instead of AskSQLTeam that people would have to sign up to ask a question and then if they were automatically (without checking the box because some people might not notice that option) subscribed to it, that they would then be notified about it.But I was just thinking out loud. Just ignore my comments. It works well for my boyfriend. Tara |

AH! I understand now. I've been thinking the very same thing myself. That's just more integration between the forums and my code than I have right now. Certainly something to keep in mind though.===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |
