 sa Account still bad?

is the sa account still considered bad practice for use for anything inside SQL 2008? I haven't touched it in 8 years and we always use auth for everything.

What do you mean by you always use "auth"?

The sa account shouldn't be used by anyone except DBAs and the DBAs might as well just use their Windows accounts that have sysadmin. The sa account definitely shouldn't be used by any applications.
