Hi.I am trying to access SQL server 2008 remotely from a SSMSE instance of 2005.I have set it up to allow remote connections, i have added sql browser to the firewall as an exception and enabled the named pipes and tcp/ip(port 1433) but it still won't connect.I keep getting the same error 40.Help please...Regards,Jean-Philippe Chenot | Web Developerhttp://www.13webstreet.co.uk |

Hi.I am not entirely sure how to find out as it was installed on the server when I took it. But the path is as follows: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.S15313547\MSSQL. I read that if it is called MSSQL it is a default instance. Altough it has a name such as S135753\S135753.ThanksRegards,Jean-Philippe Chenot | Web Developerhttp://www.13webstreet.co.uk |
