We recently installed SQL Serve 008, I recently installed Report Manager 2008. After a couple of days, RM 2008 has disappeared, although not 2005. I work remotely via a VPN and it went down for a few minutes yesterday. When I got back RM 2008 was gone.

Any ideas how this can happen and how I can prevent this from happening in the future?

OK what happened is that the Report Manager got placed into a "STOP" state. It just had to be re-started. Not sure how this can be prevented or not. ANy thoughts would be appreciated.

AW, Check the logs to see what killed the process. I was following advice from here and edited a config file. I fat fingered without knowing. As soon as save and exit, server process stopped. Only cause was listed in logs.

Apparently, there was an agent object of the SQL Server 2008 that was in 'manual ' state and this was the problem.
