I looking at carrying out a profiler trace against a sql server 2000 instance, but was wondering if there is a problem with using the sql server 2005 profiler to do this.Just really because it has more options-----------------------------------------------Learning something new on SQL Server everyday. |

I don't think the "more options" will help you if SQL 2000 isn't shipping the data to support them Never tried it, I've always stuck with the 2000 profiler against SQL 200 databases / servers. What are you particularly after in the SQL 2005 profilers ? |

profiler 2005 works fine against sql 2000. as Kristen said, it only supports what sql 2000 exposes though. |

Thanks Russell, I'll keep that in mind. Bound to come up with a need for it sooner or later! |
