 In Clusters, sql services are automatic???

Hi Experts,
i know that the in failover clusters, sql server services are manual as per my knowledge. but i heard from one of my sysadmin that those are automatic. can some one of you provide me supporting docs? and links?

Here are the services.msc from a 2 node cluster I use as my test lab. I did not change any of the default startup types.

Do not use the Services applet for SQL Server services on a cluster. Use Cluster Administrator/Failover Cluster Manager instead. Services applet will show manual, however that is not really relevant on a cluster. Ignore what Services applet says, look in Cluster Administrator.

Yes, and they are automatic in the Failover Cluster MMC. Is the fact that they are listed as manual not because they are being controled by the cluster service?

Ok, thank you. I just wanted to be sure I understood. I believe that is what the OP was getting at. They had to be manual as they are in fact controled by the cluster service.
