I realize SP1 for SQL Server 2008 came out quite some time ago, but I just noticed it in the Windows Update I ran yesterday.
I have the Developers Edition on my home PC for my personal use and training.
I have a 64-bit machine.
Are there any caveats I should be aware of prior to installation? I have not gone to the Microsoft web site to look at the KB article on this yet.

Thanks.

None that I'm aware of; personally I don;t install the (later) Cumulative Updates unless we have a specific problem that they address.

In additional the the Engine Service pack do you need to apply Service Pack to the tools too?

Download the latest version of Books Online?

I am not having any particular issues with SS 2008. As I mention, I use the software for training purposes.
I probably should download the lastest BOL documentation.

Thanks for the reply.

Wise to install Service Packs, I think, in case they include fixes for security vulnerabilities; I wouldn't wait for problems to arise ... but I don't feel that way about Cumulative Updates as they are tested less, and may have issues in their own right.

CUs do contain security fixes, so a service pack isn't always enough.

Good point Tara.

I do read the "ingredients" list on CUs, but only install if they fix a problem I already have (as distinct from SPs where I install anyway even if only fixing problems I don't (yet!) have)
