Error Installing SQL Server Express 2008 - The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified. I’ve been getting this error continuously after many attempts of installing SQL Server 2008 Express in my Window XP machine. I have listed the steps I followed during my installation of SQL Server Express 2008(not the recent R2). Here are the criteria I used during the installation process of SQL Server 2008. 1) Features I choose to install are Database Engine Services, SQL Server Replication, Management Tools – Basic and SQL Client Connectivity SDK 2) Installed in Windows XP Professional SP3. 3) Tried both Windows and Mixed Authentication modes. 4) Tried several times to install, uninstall and reinstall, cleaning registries. But nothing seems to work. At the end of the installation I’m getting this error “The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified” and saying that Database Engine is not installed in your system. But the username/pwd I have given during installation are correct only. Even I have tried installing the MSSQL 2008 Express with a newly created user (sqlsuser with full admin rights) in my windows xp but that’s also failed and ended up with the same error message. Please suggest me if anything else I’m missing in my installation procedure to get the MSSQL 2008 Express DB Engine running in my system. - Akbar- Akbar |
