hello everybody,
iam unable to restore database from my local disk.
i get this error
'The media family on device 'D:\Practice.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family.
RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally'.

iam using sql server 2008.

The backup file is damaged. Get a new backup

(or you're trying to restore a higher version to a lower version, but that gives different errors these days)

No...The same file has been restored on my colleague's system succesfully.

Then it was damaged in the copy to your machine or you're trying to restore to a lower version than the backup was taken on.
