I am running SS 2005 SP 3 64-bit Developer Edition on XP Pro x64 (SP 2).This has been stable and reliable but I am having to decide whether to upgrade to SS 2005 SP 4 (we will be going to SS 2008 on a new machine soon but my current installation still has plenty of active life in it). I am confused by Microsoft's statements about OS requirements for SP 4. Here is what they say:x64Supported Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 64-bit X64 editions. However, on digging through the list of OS requirements for originally installing SS 2005, they specifically include XP Pro x64 - but it is not listed here for the upgrade (only obviously OK for SP 4 on 32-bit XP). Can you advise me? Is it safe to install SS 2005 SP 4 x64 to XP Pro x64?Thanks.Chris |
