Hello

With a NON domain user account (administrator) I log on to Windows 2008 and to MS-SQL 2008, I want to define to backup the db at the SERVER OBJECTS a BACKUP DEVICE which will be the folder at another Windows 2003 server but which is in the domain.

Even if in Windows I map the network drive with letter Z i cannot see it at the BACKUP DEVICES destinations.
If i put the complete path \\192.168.1.10\folder1\ still it doesn't allow me and gives me the error (OPERATING SYSTEM ERROR 5- ACCESS IS DENIED).

Anybody know a solution?

thx in advance

Open up a cmd-window and use the runas-comamnd to start another cmd-window as the local administrator. Then try to map the drive.

C:\>runas /profile /user:machinename\administrator cmd

Did you seriously need a kb-article to understand why you can't write to a folder you don't have permission to...??

I'm not trying to be a wisea$$ here but the _error message_ gave you the correct answer... my answer was "implicitly" suggesting that maybe you've mapped the drive using the wrong user account.
