Windows Pro 7 64-bit- MS-SQL Server 2008 R2 (Express Editon)- Database Server Name: MSSQLSERVERI've installed SQLServer 2008R2 with ToolsSQLEXPRWT_x64_ENU and Reporting Services doesn't work. The Reporting Services Configuration Manager opens with the dialog to "Reporting Services Configuration Manager" is installed but when it activated the Reporting Service Connection doesn't connection to the Server no matter what is entered examples: Computer Name, local, Server Name. I tried Find with all the above names and all I get is error stating that Unable to connect to Server Name. Also when I look for running Services I'm not seeing any Service with the name Reporting Services. I'm not sure if the service name is Reporting Services, but all that I'm seeing is MSSQLSERER, SQL Server Agent, SQL SERVER Browser and SQL Server VSS Writer.I would really appreciate some help to configure this problem out. Thanks |

I finally figure this problem out. This version SQLEXPRWT_x64_ENU doesn't have reporting services included. The confusion stems from the management tools that are included in this version (Reporting Services Configuration Manager), but Reporting Services isn't included. The correct version SQLSERVER 2008r2 with Reporting Services can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=25174. I hope this will save someone else some time. |
