I am in the middle of converting our system from SQL Server to Sybase. I cannot believe that there is not a single site like sqlteam for a unified set of resources. Just makes me appreciate sqlteam that much more.***************************************Death must absolutely come to enemies of the code! |

We are in the financial industry, and apparently Sybase is known for their fast writing capabilities. Since SQL Server comes from Sybase, the advantages are minimial from either side of the products. The one thing that does make sense is we are moving all our servers to Linux, and that is the main reason we are going to Sybase. I did register on dbforums, but there aren't any articles. I'm not complaining or anything, I have been able to do everything I need to and find the resources. But for SQL Server, if anything popped up, I knew with certainity I could have some direction to the solution from sqlteam.***************************************Death must absolutely come to enemies of the code! |

It probably interoperates better with other Sybase products:http://www.sybase.com/productsNot to mention that a large corporate sale might include the database software for free, or at least at a rate less than using SQL Server. |

Ahh the Linux angle makes sense. A Clustered SQL Server on Windows 2000 is NOT cheap to setup between the Hardware and Software. Thanks for the info, it was enlightning!Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Find the answer you will.</Yoda> |

Roy, I agree a LOT with you. I've had to do some work with Oracle and had what turned out to be fairly simple questions regarding Oracle-specific syntax. I tried a few different sites for help including the Oracle Technical Network, and dbforums. I was greatly disappointed that they were not as well monitored as SQLTeam. That's why I got so hooked on SQLTeam in the first place... you knew you'd get some good feedback pretty quickly. So, Three Cheers for SQLTeam and all of those who help make it a great community! |
