I just recently acquired [www sqlserverconsulting com]. No site just domain at this point

I've been toying with the idea of setting up a template like moster but dedicated for sqlserver.

I would have to create categories kind of like the forums here and recruit experts who would be willing to receive jobs or bid on jobs in each of the specialized categories. Maybe even give sqlteam first pass at bids. Of course in order to attract the best it would be necessary to include a clause in every contract to allow beer on site.

I'm looking for comments and/or suggestions.

There's a few of these type of sites about, though not necessarily geared towards SQL Server. I've worked on something quite similar myself. One of the issues is in the revenue streams and how you keep people coming back to the site. Don't try to go live too quickly is my advice, make sure you've got enough consultants / contractors on the list so that once the site goes live there's enough people to cater for the needs of the users. And they do have needs quickly, too.

Are you concentrating on a specific region, or will it be a global thingy?

Sounds like an interesting idea. I might be an interested customer if our company withdraws it's "no-consultants" strategy... :)

sounds like a great idea I have been searching for projects but none of the sites were dedicated to sql server.

Gratz on getting the domain - could maybe rent it to Graz until you get the site up.

Problem with most of these sites is that they end up with a lot of requests for either trivial things which this forum would already solve for free or expect a lot of work for very little reward.

Would need an escrow service for payment.

Maybe also Graz should implement something on sql team - would be interesting to see how many personal requests for advice come from the site (whether paid or not).

sounds like a great idea to me... It will be difficult to get enough potential contracts and contractors to initially start (although you may be able to draw on a large number of us from SQLTeam)

Hey graz, run a poll

a) I am an employer who wants a full time employee
b) Looking for a contractor
c) Looking for someone to write a couple scripts
D) Interested in fulltime
E) Interested in contracting
F) Interesting in writing a few scripts for a company.
G) I'm only here for the

I'm really curious what the results would be.... And I just had to inclue a yak comment
