Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

Thank you, byrmol.
It's the first time as I learned some details of life of this great scientist.
I wonder, is his RDBS model forever? Or some day it will happen a new
revolution in the storing and retrieving data field?

It's amazing to fathom how many lives the ideas of Dr. Codd have touched. History books focus on religious leaders, scientific leaders, writers, medical research - people who have affected lives in radical ways or shifted vast numbers of people to new ways of thinking. I wonder where Dr. Codd will figure into history?

RDMS launched a revolution in data analysis, affecting countless lives - for every SQL developer there are thousands of end users. It seems the social and technoligical impact is about as far-reaching as can be.

It is interesting to contemplate where the PC / Internet might be without RDMS. How many private and government businesses are built around the business premise of having instant access to critical data?

Dr. Codd = Mr. Spock of our Generation.

What would we all be doing without his work?

I was hoping to see a little bit of info in the major news. But to my horror, some news vendors decided that the break up of "S Club 7" was more important. That tells volumes of the society we live in....
