SELECT RANT FROM MYRANTS WHERE WEEKDAY = 'FRIDAY'
Friday afternoons are suppose to be the best time of the week. 2 hour lunch breaks down the pub... a couple of games of pool, a quid or two in the pinball machine and then a nice 3 hours stretch on the computer before going home for a nice long weekend.

Weather in England is amazing today. Nice and sunny...

Couldn't get better right?

Well, I've just found out that my contract won't be extended again.
The girl that I fancy has already been with one of my work colleagues so she's out the window.

...and I lost 20 quid on the god damn fruit machine this lunchtime.

No!!! I broke two fingers in my right hand this afternoon.

[UPDATE]
Still painful but not enough to keep my away from a computer. My hand is deformed though. One of the knuckles is sticking out in a funny way and the bloody doctors didn’t even bother putting back in place. NHS for you.[/UPDATE]

apart from that,

Have a great weekend all... and a couple of cheeky drinks for me if you can manage it. It might cheer me up eventually.....

Sorry to hear about your problems Amethystium. But it's Friday, and you can drink your sorrows away. I'll have a on your behalf tonight and a few more just because.

Do you have a new gig lined up?

How's the market where you're at?

And there are plenty of fish in the sea...so go fish

Good luck

Wow I thought it was Mondays. I came into work 2 Monday's ago to find out that due to a reduction in force, my position with MCS was eliminated. Since I have no desire to move to Redmond at this time, that pretty much meant I had to leave Microsoft.

(I went on vacation that Friday, so I agree Brett, Friday good).

Anyway, I am now an independent consultant specializing in .Net, and SQL Server of course. Luckily I already have a 6 month contract.

Sad to hear Amethystium.
But leaving a contract should be the hapiest time of your life. Leaving all the junk behind and all the things you now realise you could have done better (and of course will next time). The girl that you fancy will probably find the relaxed attituse and inane grin very attractive - seems to happen at the end of contracts.

Fridays are good - get to leave before 8p.m. and free drinks in the hotel (cold, fizzy but free !!!!)

I've unfortunately just agreed to extend but do get 3 weeks off in a couple of weeks and have booked a 2 month holiday in Octso that's it! (try to take a drink off you this time Merkin).

==========================================
Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy.

Two bummers.
All that can be said is, there is always something else around the corner if you look for it.

Well this Friday is going to suck for me. We've got a big deployment that we are doing at 10pm. So no drinking for me. Oh well, there's always Saturday.

They close at 2am, but this deployment will probably just be wrapping up around that time.

24 hour bars! How cool is that? The closest thing that we have here where you can drink all hours of the day is the Indian casinos. But they are a little far out and a taxi cab ride home would be rather expensive (probably about 80 bucks or so).

Have a good weekend!

The deployment was almost flawless, just encountered a couple of minor problems. We started at 10pm and completed at about 11:30pm. Was home around 12am.
