Graz is speaking there, and Mark will be there. Probably Rob as well.

I'm still hoping Graz dips into the bottomless well of money that is the SQLTeam advertising revenue (*) to fly me out for it, but I'm not holding my breath

This is of course, a joke

I have asked my boss if I could go. He said he'd look into it. He reminded me about the weather in Orlando during that time of year. I said that it would be worth it. I'll have to find out if he got it approved.

I'm registered :) And hopefully speaking. It's definitely well worth it. This year should be a good mix of 2000 and Yukon stuff.

But could waste the time to look at emails...

I already cut and paste the overview...

Also explained that Bill's talk on Profiler was huge...

oooh, I wish I could come too! But I don't think my boss is having any of this - too expensive, fly ya out all the way to Orlando, gotta book accomodation, yada yada yada... And the local American consulate isn't making things any easier, they ask all sorts of stupid questions in the interview, and if you ever get approved (1 out of 20?), they take forever to issue the visas.

How about these reasons?

  • Great hands on labs by PSS. Ken Henderson will probably give a talk on some type of SQL Server internal. Those are usually very in-depth and informative. The kind of information you can't get any where else.
  • The usual luminaries from the SQL Server community should be presenting: Michael Hotek, Kalen Delaney, Kim Tripp, Sharon Dooley, Ken Henderson, Ron Talmage, etc.
  • It looks like it will be a great mix of Yukon and SQL 2000. Many of the abstracts I've seen on 2000 are pretty neat. People are really starting to push the product and we're going to get some great presentations as a result.
  • It's a great chance to meet with MS people. They will be presenting a significant number of topics. What a chance to talk with the people that wrote the features.
  • I almost guarantee that a single presentation that will make the whole trip worthwhile. It's happened to me EVERY YEAR so far. There's one session that saves me enough work that it pays for the cost of the conference. I just never know which one it is until I've attended it

If I come, I'll bring my club.

A very real danger in my attending would be having to buy the beer I owe everyone...

Maybe it's more of a danger to others. Tara, Nigel, Brett and Jeff would be sloshed.
