My boss is looking to hire a contractor for a short period of time to assist us with some SQL Server Configuration and Performance Tuning. We would be looking for someone in South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia.

The work would be on site in Columbia, South Carolina.

We would be looking for someone able to look at our current configuration and evaluate it, make some suggestions for some best practices, as well as educate us on a performance tuning methodology we could use going forward.

He asked me to see if anyone would be interested and to get some estimates on how much the per day charge would be.

Working remotely is definitely not an option?

I do not know if he is completely deadset against it, but I know that he is looking for someone to suggest a methodology for performance tuning, not just someone to make a few adjustments without telling us what was done. If someone were to do it remotely, there would have to be a way for that person to help educate us.

Yep, Charlotee. He works for MS SQL Server support. He's on the other end of those $200 phone calls to MS.

He's a SQL GOD.

I don't think that I could qualify my self as a 'SQL God', but I do have a certain condition that causes me to seek out and destroy ineffiencies in every aspect of life. I have redesign almost every system were I work, and I have only been here 3 years. We process millions of records in tax/payroll calculations, and run a benefit enrollment group (for which I design the database and web-frontend system).

Coincidentally, I also live in SC, though I am in the greenville area.

I just get really busy, and don't have time to check in.

My wife just had our second as well.

Chad he's a new guy that has only been there about three months or so now.

Peter I talked to him and he's not interested. The drive is too far, and he could only work on weekends for ya anyway.
