It appeared on the front-page of our popular local newspaper yesterday. there is one space always reserved for odd news on the front page, guess they like to give us something to smile about too. i laughed so hard when I read it in the elevator, the guy next to me thought i was nuts or something. Bush is living upto his reputation, the catalog of Bushism's needs a fresh entry once in a while.

I seriously cannot believe this guy is a president!

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we," Bush said on Thursday.

hahahahahahahaha

I saw that the other day too.

Jon, as an FYI... we try to keep SQLTeam free from political discussion. Keeps things much simpler, there are plenty of places to discuss this stuff without bringing SQLTeam into more flamefests.

O pardon me...

The front of the SQL Team says this is the Yak Corral ???

Isn't this a place where we can talk about anything? Why is it we can sit around and talk about margaritas all day but we cant talk politics???

So what is acceptable in the "Yak Corral" ?

Ok boys, chill please. Let's not start what we are trying to avoid.

Margaritas, those poor little things can hardly cause a stir. Unless of course, you add in the salt and the lemon slice and the olive...

Oh you don't know what a margarita is? No wonder Brett's ramblings don't make sense to you (not like they make sense to anybody else either...lol) Sorry about that Brett, have one on me.

Do you drink (as in wine)? Even if you don't...if you visit bars/clubs, ever seen one of these:

Tequila! Brett must love the Mexicans for that. The rim of the glass is usually lined with lemon and then salted. I'm not a drinker myself, but I've hung around bars long enough to pick these things up (and some really drunk friends too)

Exactly.... and where is the politics in laughing your head off at a complete idiot?!

Anyhow, there is nothing wrong with politics, I'd rather talk about that than go to the pub, get pi$$ed and talk rubbish all night. At least with politics you have a chance of learning something new.

The truth hurts John and the idea is, you don't want to hurt people here by highlighting the stupidity of the President himself. But most people would see the funny side of this.

I've said this before, there is this superficial obsession with drink for some people... kinda makes you fit in with the crowd so to speak. How about just being yourself without pretending... unless you're a lager lout then it's a different story

Oh come on Amethystium - You mean to say you dont enjoy a few beers with the lads at the 19th hole after a round of golf?

Or a quick Ale at the corner pub after earning your crust for the day?

Some of us are just plain boring. I buy a four pack of Guiness pints (give or take a bit to get to metric measure) every year when I go on vacation. I usually throw one "leftover" out when I bring the new ones home! That's Ok, I make a great "designated driver" so I'm still pretty popular at parties!

Hey Pat,
We need many of you over here in SA.
The public transport is terrible - so if you are out on the booze the only way home is by car.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but the traffic departments over here haven't been reaaly good at enforcing a legal drinking limit, there is a limit that has been set, but one is hardly ever pulled over at road blocks to be tested. (seems like they have been trying to jack it up a bit though recently).

Anyways - Not that I'm proud of it - That's where my logon comes from - it's where me and my car ended up after a night of drinking (fortunately no-one was hurt) - I've been a lot more carefull since

Duane.

Drinks are over hyped...
So are cigs...

I don't see the big whoppie...I've seen people who just go nuts over alchol / drugs, it's rather pathetic.
These are the same people who have no money in their bank accounts. Come on..I think my life is more important than
a stupid margarita.

"Same people who have no money in their bank accounts." I respectfully disagree. My life is certainly more important than drinking, so I always make sure I get home safe after a night on the town whether that be by calling a cab, waking up my sister to pick me up, or having the designated driver do the driving.

Too many people care Too much about what other people think/say about them. Many of those same people can have a drink or few and be much more relaxed and out going, whats the harm in that. I personally don't drink a ton, but its fun to just chill with a drink at a bar and shoot the $hit sometimes.

Everybody mis-speaks from time to time. Granted George W. Bush does it more than most. So public speaking isn't his strong suit.

The alternatives aren't that much better:

"I actually did vote for the $87 billion, before I voted against it." --John Kerry, on voting against a military funding bill for U.S. troops in Iraq

"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur."
-- Vice President Al Gore, 9/22/97

"For NASA, space is still a high priority."
-- Vice President Al Gore, 9/5/93

"Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children."
-- Vice President Al Gore

"The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century."
-- Vice President Al Gore, 9/15/95

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."
-- Vice President Al Gore

"[It's] time for the human race to enter the solar system."
-- Vice President Al Gore

"We're all capable of mistakes, but I do not care to enlighten you on the mistakes we may or may not have made."
-- Vice President Al Gore

"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy - but that could change."
-- Vice President Al Gore, 5/22/98

"One word sums up probably the responsibility of any vice president, and that one word is 'to be prepared.'"
-- Vice President Al Gore, 12/6/93

"Verbosity leads to unclear, inarticulate things."
-- Vice President Al Gore, 11/30/96

"I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."
-- Vice President Al Gore

"The future will be better tomorrow."
-- Vice President Al Gore

"We're going to have the best-educated American people in the world."
-- Vice President Al Gore, 9/21/97

"I stand by all the misstatements that I've made."
-- Vice President Al Gore to Sam Donaldson, 8/17/93

"We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a *part* of NATO. We have a firm commitment to Europe. We are a *part* of Europe."
-- Vice President Al Gore

"Last year, the vice president launched a new effort to help make communities more liberal." —Bill Clinton, during his 2000 State of the Union Speech. He meant to say "more livable," and then made the same slip-up in a subsequent sentence, drawing uproarious laughter from Republicans
