VS.net...Using visual studio . net for my asp.net / vb.net project. I had split it up for production versus development so that when I made a change to development I just rebuilt and replaced the pages that changed and the project dll.All was fine and dandy, since I never had to "ADD" any new items (web forms, etc), all I had been doing was modifying existing pages and when I rebuilt it worked fine. Now I noticed I had added a new page, designed it coded it and I could see it in the project (solution). I then rebuilt my project and tried to run it and every time I try to make a request to this newly added page I get a 404. I am not sure why I am getting a 404 I rebuilt the app. and I can see it in my solution but if I make a request to it I get a wonderful 404.When I do a rebuild on development isn't it supposed to show the files listed in my project like compiling each one of them??? Maybe it doesnt see this newly added file?? What am I doing wrong here? Thanks / Jon Keeping the web experience alive -- http://www.web-impulse.comImperfection living for perfection -- http://jhermiz.blogspot.com/ |

Are you sure that the project in question is getting rebuilt? In Configuration manger, does it have the checkbox on the far right checked?Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Find the answer you will.</Yoda> |

Did you notice that the Source Control icon had the check mark with the exclaimation mark? I've never seen that one.You said you copied this file from one project to another? In the ASPX page, open it an look at the HTML behind it. Look at the Inherits part of it. Make sure the first part of the inherits the correct project name.<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Codebehind="logoff.aspx.vb" Inherits="VOHASP.logoff"%> Other than that, you might just need to backup the code, remove it from the project, and re-add it to the project.Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Just a standard avi file, not sure why you guys cant play it??Mike I think was able to?Anyhow the exclamation is not the issue here, yes its on a web server, project has to be on a web server, the exclamation happens alot just notifying the programmer that its been placed on some shared network folder.I realized when I deleted the grid the page worked fine...not sure why...gonna have to recreate the grid...weird problems.Jon Keeping the web experience alive -- http://www.web-impulse.comImperfection living for perfection -- http://jhermiz.blogspot.com/ |

Datagrid "key" field? I've never even heard of such a thing. I don't do anything complicated with datagrids, other than some simple displaying of datasets. I usually use repeaters.Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Find the answer you will.</Yoda> |

DataKeyFields, err...nevermind I'll hunt it down myself .The videos, I use a great tool called Camtasia studio, its fairly cheap and very easy to use. www.techsmith has more info. You can embed the videos into web pages, flash, you can also add animations and sound. I do all of our training videos via camtasia...a google search on my name yields an interview I had with camtasia :)quote: Camtasia Studio in the Real World: Jon Hermiz, Software Engineer It's happened to you - sometimes, you know you've found the perfect tool. You download it, you try it, and immediately, you have the complete solution. And that's what happened to Jon Hermiz when a friend showed him the TechSmith Web site and mentioned that Camtasia Studio lets users create screen videos. Mr. Hermiz is a software engineer at Johann A. Krause, Inc. located in Auburn Hills, MI. Johann A. Krause, a child company of the ThyssenKrupp group, is involved in designing, developing, building and installing customized powertrain assembly systems for engine, transmission, axle, and drivetrain assembly systems for the automotive and related industries. As a software engineer, Mr. Hermiz writes internal client-server applications for his group based in Auburn Hills, as well as at their sites located across North America and Europe. Mr. Hermiz is using Camtasia Studio to create computer based training (CBT) videos. Read on to see why he concluded, "I don't think I'd ever use anything else to create computer based training videos. Camtasia Studio is the only way to simple and effective video capturing." What influenced you to use Camtasia Studio? After I downloaded the trial version I was astonished as to how easy to use Camtasia Studio really was. Not only was the interface user-friendly, but I was able to put together several videos with sound / effects / animation within a couple of days. Right from the get-go of creating my first couple of videos I knew we just had to license Camtasia Studio. How long have you been using Camtasia Studio? I just began using Camtasia Studio, and although I probably have not had the software for over a month, I'd say I'm pretty comfortable using Camtasia Studio to its fullest extent. What do you think of Camtasia Studio? It's very difficult to explain in words how easy-to-use Camtasia Studio really is. When I visited the TechSmith Web site I felt that after downloading Camtasia Studio I'd have to spend at least a week just learning how to use the tool. Little did I know! Right after the download I was creating videos and learning some of the advanced features of Camtasia Studio. I don't think I'd ever use anything else to create computer based training videos. Camtasia Studio is the only way to simple and effective video capturing. What are your favorite Camtasia Studio features? I'd say the Camtasia Producer and the Camtasia MenuMaker are two of the best features of Camtasia Studio. Producer allows you to incorporate several videos and combine them into one. You don't really need to spend hours creating one video; you simply create several short videos and combine all of them into one using the Producer. The Camtasia MenuMaker helped me create a menu for users allowing them to navigate from one video to another. The MenuMaker is sharp and easy-to-use and allows users a choice as to which video they want to see. The Wizard that starts up allows you to select the videos, as well as a theme, to give a professional and clean look to your interface. What are you using Camtasia Studio to do? I'm using Camtasia Studio to create computer based training videos. With all the features that Camtasia Studio has I am able to create professional quality videos and easily deploy the CBTs within a very small time frame. Is there a situation when Camtasia Studio was particularly helpful to you? Most recently several new tools have been released at our workplace. The most complicated part of software development is having users adjust and learn how to use a tool correctly and effectively. With Camtasia Studio I was able to capture, create, and deploy videos using the tool to all 300+ employees within our organization. Camtasia Studio has kept me doing what I am supposed to be doing, and that's writing software. I no longer need to arrange or make trips to our various sites across the U.S. to provide training to our personnel. I can now create a video and send that video to our end users. This has helped save money internally within our organization as well as time that I put forth in training users. Would you recommend us to your customers or colleagues? Of course I'd recommend Camtasia Studio to anyone, especially in the software industry. All developers / documentation personnel know how difficult it is to deploy applications once they have been created. A lot of time and money is put forth in creating manuals as well as providing hands on training to end users. We all know from our personal experiences that many end users are shy or don't feel comfortable asking questions during training with 50 or so other individuals, Camtasia Studio answers those questions that users were "afraid" to ask. With Camtasia Studio, users can go at their own pace and repeat videos if they did not completely understand something. Do you have any last comments? Yes, if you're a developer and you need to provide documentation / training on your tool or your team's tool, then look no further. Camtasia Studio is the answer to all of your "Well how should we...", "What if...", "How do I...". If you plan to deploy your application without CBTs then be ready to answer a whole bunch of phone calls explaining your tool to end users. Don't make the mistake I once did and fall victim of becoming an operator - plan effectively and use Camtasia Studio to answer all of your end users' questions."
