Hehehe..... the whole point is that if he had provided the link to the SQLTeam thread, he wouldn't have had to write his piece. Malice intended perhaps?------------->>> BREAKING NEWS!!! <<<------------- Saddam Hussien has weapons of mass destruction |

You are linked here Brett, found the interchange between FP & Rudy(r937) somewhat interesting.http://www.dbdebunk.com/page/page/2049828.htmBeing on the team today is like visiting kindergarten (almost). The comment on Your blog was just stupid,if the guy was literate and had any incentive to get his facts right he would not have posted it.Great link Damian, laughed my head off.rockmoose |

Know what....I just found this..http://www.tdan.com/sms_issue33.htmI love the fact that Mr. Pascal does not even address the issue, that he uses a reference to SQL Team, and stands up on mount olympus, and doesn't point out that we already provided the "correct" answer.I love the fact the he publishes, yet there is no place for rebuttal. And aren't you suppose to ask the poster if it's ok to republish content? Especially since everything he re-posts is taken out of context?Brett8-)Hint: Want your questions answered fast? its pretty pathetic that he's been doing this for 20 years... and I just wasted my time by reading an article in which he said nothing useful. It seems to be an attention getting scheme... does he normally post useful articles (haven't read any others except the 2 in question)??I think I'll go watch paint dry...Corey Co-worker on The Wizard of Oz "...those three midgets that came out and danced, the freaked me out when I was little. But they are ok now." |

quote: Well, I don't have a problem with the article, just the tone AND the fact that he (or someone that he works with) trolls the Team sote [sic] ... doesn't post, uses the URL in the article, post some outrageous "intellectual" property (at least he references the poster) and then goes on to regurgitate what basically the collective SQLTeam responded to, and with NO reference to the team members who took issue with the original post. That's my first pet peeve.
I think you are right on this part Brett, all the other stuff kind of springs from that childish publishing style of no links to provide context. That leaves the stage wide open for all kind of redirection, smack talk etc. We all are fallable in certain ways and we all have thresholds in dealing with what we will tolerate or consider worthy of our attention. Highly individual. But this stuff irks me too and net result in this case is same sh*t, different p*le. Funny how a childish publishing style can take subsequent readings way down on your TO READ list, dosen't take much.I wish someone would start an Official XML Rant Thread. |

I remember thinking the original thread on SQLTeam was a troll, and said that in a post:http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=42060&whichpage=2I wonder if the thread was actually a strawman post. There was a lot of detail in that post, and it seemed 00kevin knew too much about databases to really believe what he was saying. Maybe the purpose of the thread was to provide someone with a stupid, uneducated strawman to rip apart. His remarks from the first article have an air of pomposity that quickly grows tiresome:"This is what happens in the absence of education: practitioners operate with blinders, believing that they avoid the very problems that they actually create... ...But how can uninformed, uneducated practitioners possibly know this, when they never learned the fundamentals of their field?"The pomposity in his latest article is even more unrestrained:"Now, my articles usually contain substantive criticism which, if wrong, can be proven such. But seldom do I encounter demonstrations to that effect that withstand the simplest scrutiny. The rare attempt to rebut is feeble, often outright wrong, and almost always without evidence."His contempt for the uneducated drips with venom, so maybe the uneducated have simply chosen not to seek wisdom from someone who holds them in such contempt. It must be especially irksome for someone with such godlike knowledge and abilities that unwashed practitioners fail to show him the proper reverence. Perhaps this is the reason behind the recent tirade.CODO ERGO SUM |
