Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? The more T-SQL I learn the fatter I become.

Anyone of you guys care to share your cubicle exercise routines? No matter how fast I code I dont seem to be burning enough calories :)

I'm guilty of this too...although I've definitely added more weight than knowledge lately.

Does this mean if I lose weight I also lose SQL knowledge? Cause I'm looking for ANY good excuse not to exercise.

Hahaha funny, I hear that I started about 4 years (22 years old) and was about 165...
Now I'm 186...Thats a big weight gain, and even my fiancee made the comment that I am getting a bit "chunky" lately.
I wish there was intramural activities at the workplace, that is originally why I created that one post "Work Perks".
I try to get out of here by 4:30pm-5pm each day, and go out for a ball game and a run. I sweat my arse off but sometimes it just does not help...Its very difficult to lose weight at certain ages.

One good tip, and you may not be guilty of this but I certainly was is that you should not eat late at night...the latest time you should be eating is about 7pm...anything later is bad news! I know that's got to hurt :|

Yea, eating late is a bad idea. But I think my inactivity throughout the day (sitting, coding, etc) just kills my metabolism.

For a while I was doing handstands on the cube walls but then the director complained about the footprints on the HVAC ducts. So now I just resort to the foot tremmors and facial ticks.

I'm afraid to go on a diet in case it is proportional. I don't want to loose what little knowledge I have.

Ya know... this post really got me thinking. Anyway - google pointed me to ...

(stripped down to the point of this post)

60-Second Aerobics

Glance at the wall clock and rip off a minute's worth of jumping jacks. If you're a beginner, try the low-impact version (raise your right arm and tap your left toe to the side while keeping your right foot on the floor; alternate sides)
Do a football-like drill of running in place for 60 seconds. Get those knees up! (Beginners, march in place.)
Simulate jumping rope for a minute: Hop on alternate feet, or on both feet at once. An easier version is to simulate the arm motion of turning a rope, while alternately tapping the toes of each leg in front.
While seated, pump both arms over your head for 30 seconds, then rapidly tap your feet on the floor, football-drill style, for 30 seconds. Repeat 3-5 times.
If you can step into a vacant office or conference room, shadow box for a minute or two. Or just walk around the room as fast as you can.
Or do walk-lunges in your office or a vacant room. (You could also amuse your co-workers by doing these in the hall; remember Monty Python's "Ministry of Silly Walks" comedy routine?). Set your PDA to beep you into action.
No conference room? Take to the stairs -- two at a time if you need a harder workout! Do this 5-7 times a day.
Although, this may just be a "how to annoy your coworkers" spam.

I blame my wife not SQL - she has been far too successful at feeding me up! We recently got a dog so that we would get more excercise but as we live very near a good pub we tend to go there on the way back so now we drink more too!!

I stand up and walk a bit for 5 minutes every 3 hours, since our cafeteria is a couple of meters away from our office, it's a good exercise and excuse to get coffee, lunch is easily metabolized due to the distance
