I think it absolutley underscores how idiotis idiotic the world baseball Classic is.

The US is eliminated before they even play their 2nd game.

That's classic.

No one ever understands Brett.
He's probably been heavily drinking on the job.

Is it a rounders like game with a 'world series' that includes 3 countries?

From what I read that day, there was a scenario where they could be eliminated before they even played another game....it was based on run totals, yada, yada, yada...but that's just sports...

Still, it's the absence of players that speak volumes about what this tournament is all about.

Oh, and say hi to Crespo24 for me.

I'm fairly certain that the World Series only includes US and Canadadian teams. There are players from all over the world, especially Latin America and Japan.

Of course, Canadadians don't actually play baseball, they just like to watch it, like hockey in the US.

what are you talking about? the US team is insane, the dominican republic, puerto rico, cuba, japan are all all-star caliber teams.

There is no shortage of great players playing in this thing.

Always wondered why it was called the world series if only (mostly) north americans play it

you forget this is a world baseball classic. There are tons of great players in MLB who are from the dominican republic, venezuala, puerto rico, japan, etc.

Watch some of the games and tell me that this isn't being played at a high level.

When pitchers have to be restricted to a very low pitch count, and are not allowed to pitch some many inning in so many days...AND the fact that NONE of them are really ready to poitch...then no, it is not played at a high level....I mean, Al Lieter....come on....AND I'm a Met fan....

It isn't the World Series.

The event thay are talking about is the World Baseball Classic, a new event that actually is made up of teams from around the world.

The World Series is a best of seven series played in the fall that is the championship for Major League Baseball.
