Just to get some feedback from professionals and other users out there:Why should a company invest the $ into Microsoft products like SQL Server 2005 and use .NET 2.0 over PHP/mySQL or other open source products? For me, I like DTS and what it can do and assist with....which is my biggest pro, but wanted to get some other ideas out there. Thanks! |

Tools (DTS, EM, QA, IDE intergration), support (community and official), ease of use, reliability (SQL Server has been rock solid since v7), integrity support and of course SQL Team...This is not to say that other open source DBMS do not have the above, but SQL Server is pretty hard to bet in those areas...DavidMIntelligent Design is NOT science.A front-end is something that tries to violate a back-end. |

it all depends on the skill sets you have internally to support the software you chose. There are many very successful companies right now that have done everything using open source software. Many of them probably would never have been able to do what they have done without using open source software.-ec |
